Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 - 5 years of relevant hotel or meeting planning experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and related productivity software
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation and health regulations
  • Understanding of local liquor laws
  • Physical ability for light work occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds
  • Flexibility to work long hours including weekends and holidays
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize duties effectively
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Job Qualifications

  • 2 - 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or as a meeting planner
  • Proficient in Windows and company-approved spreadsheets and word processing
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques
  • Familiarity with health department rules and regulations
  • Understanding of Nevada liquor laws and regulations
  • Experience with Marriott Consolidated Inventory System "CI" is a plus
  • Ability to work flexible and long hours
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays
  • Capable of exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently or constantly

Job Duties

  • Maintain warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with employees and guests
  • Listen to and address concerns raised by employees and guests
  • Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Attend all required hotel meetings and training
  • Participate in management coverage as required
  • Manage and follow up on existing accounts for future business
  • Respond immediately to requests from meeting planners
  • Coordinate with outside planners and vendors for event set-up
  • Maintain pricing integrity and propose upscale menus
  • Create, review and revise rooming and VIP lists
  • Manage function bookings to maximize revenue
  • Assist staff during functions as needed
  • Respond timely to guest complaints
  • Keep management informed of issues requiring attention
  • Collaborate with food and beverage managers on emerging issues
  • Prepare and submit reports timely
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of hotel operational departments
  • Conduct and participate in departmental and hotel training
  • Plan and execute holiday and special events
  • Use feedback to improve service and quality
  • Coordinate implementation of Highgate Hotel Enrichment service philosophy
  • Lead weekly team meetings and focus on guest service and audit scores
