Job Requirements
- associate degree or equivalent experience
- 2 - 5 years of progressive hotel or meeting planner experience
- proficiency in Windows and company-approved software
- knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques
- understanding of health and safety regulations
- familiarity with liquor laws
- physical ability to perform light work including lifting up to 20 pounds
- availability to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to multitask and prioritize
- maintain confidentiality
- high standards of personal grooming
Job Qualifications
- 2 - 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or as a meeting planner
- proficiency in Windows, spreadsheets and word processing
- knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques
- understanding of health department rules and regulations
- familiarity with Nevada liquor laws and regulations
- Marriott Consolidated Inventory System (CI) experience a plus
- flexibility to work long hours, weekends and holidays
- ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently
Job Duties
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
- effectively communicate verbally and in writing with employees and guests
- listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests
- multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- approach all encounters in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner
- attend all hotel-required meetings and trainings
- participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
- maintain regular attendance according to Highgate standards
- maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations
- maximize efforts towards productivity and assist in implementing solutions
- handle problems by anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving them
- maintain confidentiality of information
- perform other duties as requested by management
- manage existing accounts and follow up with client re-solicitation
- respond to requests by Meeting Planners promptly
- interact with outside planners and vendors for event set-up
- maintain pricing integrity and propose upscale menus for clients
- create, review and revise rooming and VIP lists
- manage the function book and adjust space to maximize revenue
- be visible on the floor and assist staff as needed during functions
- respond to guest complaints timely
- keep immediate manager informed of problems
- communicate with F&B managers on issues
- prepare and submit required reports promptly
- understand meeting room set-ups and capabilities
- know sleeping room configurations and types
- have comprehensive knowledge of all hotel operational departments
- conduct departmental and hotel training
- plan and execute holiday and special events with Catering & Event Managers
- use feedback from Meeting Planner evaluations to improve service
- coordinate the implementation of the Highgate Hotel Enrichment philosophy of service
- ensure participation in monthly Highgate team meetings
- lead weekly meetings such as BEO, ESS and Resume
- focus team on contributing to Guest Service and audit scores
- conduct meetings according to Highgate standards as required by management
