Job Description
Wayfair Inc. is a leading online destination dedicated to home goods and furnishings, with a deep commitment to innovation, technology, and creating rewarding work experiences. The company, headquartered in Boston with warehouses and offices worldwide, fosters a dynamic, inclusive workplace where diversity, creativity, and problem-solving thrive. Wayfair is recognized for its rapid growth and industry-leading technology, making it an exciting place for employees seeking career development, learning opportunities, and impactful challenges.
The Community Event Specialist role at Wayfair Stores is a unique opportunity to amplify the Wayfair brand by designing, planning, and executing engaging community-focused events that increase customer traffic and local awareness. This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $25.00 per hour and reports directly to the Manager of People & Community. As a Community Event Specialist, you will take ownership of event-related activities ranging from supplier demonstrations to neighborhood gatherings, ensuring event success through impeccable logistics and staffing oversight. Beyond orchestrating events, you will contribute to in-store promotions, sales support, and visual merchandising efforts, helping to create a fresh, inviting atmosphere that resonates with customers.
This role requires someone with a blend of strong organizational skills, hands-on leadership, and creative content development instincts. You will collaborate closely with marketing teams to capture and create compelling social media content that highlights Wayfair's community moments, extending the impact of live events well beyond the store walls. The position involves cross-functional collaboration with leadership, store operations, new store openings, and People Operations teams to align event initiatives with broader business objectives.
Ideal candidates will have one to two years of experience in event execution, hospitality, or other customer-facing roles, complemented by excellent communication skills and the ability to engage both customers and internal stakeholders effectively. You should be comfortable managing fast-paced event environments, coordinating team members and vendors, and adapting quickly to shifting priorities. A strong passion for people, creative problem-solving, and the confidence to work independently in a dynamic workplace are essential.
Additionally, this role requires flexibility, as you will be expected to work nights, weekends, and holidays to support store events and needs. Up to 50% travel within a 50-mile radius is part of the job, supporting various community engagements. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and work comfortably in changing environments. Wayfair is committed to accessibility and equal opportunity, ready to make accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.
This position offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance from day one, paid time off starting immediately, 401(k) with company match, tuition reimbursement, and generous employee discounts. With a supportive corporate culture, Wayfair provides a platform for individuals to grow professionally while contributing to meaningful community connections. This is a compelling role for anyone looking to blend event management with marketing, customer engagement, and team leadership within a respected and rapidly evolving retail organization.
