Job Description

Outpost is an innovative aerospace company based in Playa Vista, California, pioneering the field of Earth-return logistics from space. The company is dedicated to developing advanced spacecraft technology capable of safely and precisely returning payloads from orbit. This breakthrough enables space-based manufacturing, faster and more reliable global delivery, and offers new capabilities tailored for both government and commercial customers. As a mission-driven team, Outpost emphasizes a culture of urgency, grit, and care in building solutions that push the boundaries of what's possible in space logistics.

The Community Events Manager role at Outpost is a dynamic, hands-on position that is central to fostering a vibrant internal culture as well as enhancing the company’s external presence in the aerospace industry. Based in Playa Vista, this in-person role requires the manager to work five days per week, orchestrating diverse events that strengthen team cohesion and showcase Outpost’s leadership in through-space logistics. The position offers a competitive salary ranging from $100,000 to $130,000 annually, with variations depending on experience. Additionally, the role includes incentive stock options, an annual performance-based bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package.

As the Community Events Manager, you will be responsible for end-to-end management and execution of multiple event programs spanning internal functions, such as employee engagement activities, holiday celebrations, team outings, and ERG events, as well as external occasions including VIP visits, executive dinners, media events, and participation in key industry conferences and trade shows. Success in this role means expertly managing logistics, vendor relations, budgets, and scheduling — all while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail in a fast-paced, technically complex environment.

Beyond event planning, the role requires a keen ability to collaborate cross-functionally with teams across Marketing, Communications, Business Development, Operations, IT, Facilities, Security, and senior leadership. This coordination ensures seamless programming, content development, and show execution. The Community Events Manager must also ensure compliance with confidentiality protocols and government export-controls, reflecting the sensitive nature of Outpost’s work.

Ideal candidates will bring over five years of experience managing complex B2B events, particularly within aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, or other technical and regulated sectors. The role demands excellent project and vendor management, budgeting skills, and the capability to support senior executives and VIP stakeholders with discretion and polish. This position also requires flexibility to travel and to work extended hours during major events.

Outpost values individuals who are highly organized, communicative, and self-directed. The role is perfect for a professional inclined towards creating well-run, impactful events that enhance company culture and amplify stakeholder engagement. Leveraging tools such as Microsoft Office, project trackers, Airtable, and registration platforms will be beneficial. A familiarity with large-scale industry trade shows and expos, such as defense expos and air shows, is advantageous.

Ultimately, this opportunity offers a chance to contribute to a cutting-edge company in the aerospace sector while managing events that make a tangible impact on the organization's culture and reputation. Join Outpost to be at the forefront of space logistics innovation and to help craft world-class event experiences that embody the company’s bold vision and technical excellence.
