Job Description

Outpost is an innovative company located in Playa Vista, California, that specializes in pioneering Earth-return logistics for space. The organization is dedicated to building spacecraft that ensure the safe and precise return of payloads from orbit, thus unlocking immense potential in space-based manufacturing, faster global delivery, and new capabilities for both government and commercial customers. The team at Outpost is mission-focused, characterized by urgency, grit, and careful attention to detail, creating a dynamic and forward-thinking environment. This is an opportunity to join a cutting-edge company at the forefront of space logistics technology.

The role being offered is for a Community Events Manager, a pivotal position within the company responsible for planning and executing a variety of high-impact internal and external events. These events are strategically designed to build company culture, deepen meaningful relationships, and reinforce Outpost's leadership in through-space logistics. The Community Events Manager will oversee multiple event programs from start to finish, including employee engagement activities, company headquarters moments, customer and investor visits, media gatherings, and activations at key industry events. This hands-on and detail-driven role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced and technical environment, possesses excellent vendor and budget management skills, and can produce calm, polished execution even when working closely with senior stakeholders.

In this position, you will be responsible for orchestrating all aspects of event execution, including managing timelines, budgets, vendor sourcing and contracts, logistics such as travel and shipping, production schedules, and day-of coordination. You will handle a diverse mix of programs including culture-building internal events like holiday parties, team outings, employee resource group (ERG) events, and office openings, as well as external events such as VIP and investor visits, executive dinners, media happy hours, and conference-side showcases. Additionally, you will manage trade shows and activations, ensuring the seamless operation of booth logistics, on-site coordination, schedules, brand representation, and support for key stakeholder meetings.

Collaboration is key in this role, requiring cross-functional coordination with departments such as Marketing, Communications, Business Development, Operations, IT, Facilities, Security, and company leadership to develop programming, content, and detailed run-of-show plans. The Community Events Manager will also lead vendor negotiations, oversee budget tracking to ensure on-time delivery within financial plans, and maintain compliance with confidentiality standards and government protocols, including export-control where applicable. A commitment to continuous improvement is vital, as this role includes defining KPIs, gathering feedback for event evaluation, and creating repeatable processes and templates to optimize future events.

Compensation for this position ranges from $100,000 to $130,000 annually, depending on experience. Additional benefits include incentive stock options, an annual performance-based bonus, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid time off, 401k with company match, and subsidized daily catered lunches, snacks, and coffee. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents, protected individuals as defined by relevant federal regulations, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. This is an exceptional chance to grow your career in event management within a high-tech, mission-driven company that is revolutionizing space logistics.
