Job Description

The Community Engagement Coordinator position is a full-time role that works roughly 215 contract days annually, mostly aligning with the school calendar that includes most school breaks off. The base work hours are from 9 AM to 5 PM, Tuesday through Friday, with flexible scheduling on Mondays and Saturdays depending on event schedules and nighttime obligations. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this coordinator plays a key role in shaping and enhancing the school’s public image and community relations as Cottonwood Classical Preparatory School pursues its expansion plans and CSP grant goals.

This position requires a dynamic individual with strong communication skills, proficient in managing multiple platforms from social media channels to official publications and community events. As the chief editor of the school's website, the Community Engagement Coordinator ensures that all content is current, accurate, and reflective of the school’s values. The role also involves acting as a spokesperson in coordination with the Executive Director, drafting and distributing press releases and newsletters, managing social media content to maintain a positive digital presence, and responding promptly and professionally to community inquiries.

In addition to communication, this position is integral to community engagement efforts that include collaborating with student government, fostering relationships with parents, alumni, local businesses, and organizations, and actively participating in community outreach events, which often take place in the evenings or on weekends. They are responsible for event coordination, serving on the Events committee, organizing school assemblies, parent meetings, open houses, and supporting marketing initiatives targeted at prospective students to sustain enrollment growth.

The Community Engagement Coordinator is also tasked with soliciting community feedback through surveys and focus groups to continuously improve school programs and engagement strategies. Ideal candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field, proven experience in communications or community outreach preferably within an educational environment, excellent bilingual communication skills (English and Spanish preferred), and strong organizational abilities. Familiarity with Albuquerque’s community and a willingness to drive school vehicles complete this comprehensive and strategic role.

Cottonwood Classical Preparatory School offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $90,000 based on qualifications and experience. Job Duties
