Job Description

Feeding South Florida (FSF) is a vital member of the Feeding America network and stands as the leading hunger relief organization serving the counties of Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe. As one of the largest food banks in the Feeding America network, FSF plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity by serving 25 percent of Florida's food-insecure population. The organization boasts a four-star rating by Charity Navigator, reflecting its operational efficiency and dedication to the community. Impressively, FSF allocates over 98 percent of its donations directly back into the community, underscoring its commitment to stewardship and impactful service. The organization's core values revolve around service, compassion, integrity, dedication, stewardship, and inclusion. Known as "Friendly Food Bankers," FSF's team members are innovative, strategic thinkers who prioritize serving others above personal interests, contributing to a high-performance culture that nurtures continuous learning and professional growth.

The Community Engagement and Events Specialist plays a strategic role in advancing FSF's mission by spearheading community outreach and engagement initiatives that are key to the organization's fundraising and awareness efforts. This full-time position, offering an annual salary ranging from $55,000 to $60,000, requires collaboration with the Philanthropy team to achieve significant financial targets, specifically a minimum revenue goal of at least $1 million annually. The Specialist is tasked with planning, expanding, and executing a diverse range of events, including annual, quarterly, monthly networking events, third-party events, as well as community service and food drive initiatives helmed by the Food Supply Chain team.

In this role, the Specialist oversees all aspects of event management such as budgeting, fundraising, attendance, and volunteer committee development, ensuring each event not only promotes FSF's mission but also meets established financial and participation goals. The Specialist will actively recruit and manage county-specific fundraising and volunteer committees and co-lead various events alongside Development Directors. The position also involves facilitating the Youth Ambassador Program, supporting cause-related marketing campaigns, scheduling donor meetings, conducting presentations, and representing FSF at community gatherings such as check presentations and grand openings.

This role demands a proactive and resourceful individual with strong project management capabilities, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Community Engagement and Events Specialist must be adept at balancing multiple initiatives and raising significant funds through diverse engagement activities. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals passionate about making a measurable impact on hunger relief through community-driven events and strategic fundraising within a respected nonprofit organization.
