Job Description

The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is a renowned nonprofit organization committed to fostering positive and lasting change across the community. We are currently searching for a dedicated Community Concierge to join our team. This role serves as the welcoming face of the YMCA and is vital to delivering a best-in-class customer experience. Community Concierge team members engage actively with community members, offering solutions, information, and personalized support to help individuals discover the wide array of opportunities the YMCA provides. This position is hourly, with a pay rate of $16.60 per hour, and offers significant potential for professional growth within the organization. The role requires availability during early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends to support the varied needs of our community members. As part of the YMCA team, you will contribute not only to operational excellence but also to fostering a warm, inclusive atmosphere that reflects the values of the YMCA and its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Community Concierge is responsible for greeting and engaging visitors, addressing inquiries via phone and email, managing customer transactions efficiently, and supporting facility operations to ensure community areas remain clean and welcoming. A key component of this role is anticipating the needs of guests and members to provide exceptional service and foster a positive community experience. Collaborative work with local leadership ensures smooth front desk operations and effective management of supplies. The position also involves conducting tours tailored to prospective members' interests and promoting YMCA memberships and programs. Success in this role hinges on excellent communication skills, a passion for community engagement, and adherence to YMCA safety standards, including child abuse prevention policies. Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • earned high school diploma or GED
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • top-notch verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • willingness and ability to complete all mandatory YMCA training and certifications along with ongoing or additional training as assigned by the supervisor within established timeframe

Job Duties

  • Greet community members and guests and make them feel welcome and engaged
  • answer phones and email inquiries
  • actively manage customer transactions
  • support facility operations by partnering with local Community Hub leadership to ensure community spaces are clean at all times
  • anticipate individual's needs in order to accommodate them and provide an exceptional customer experience
  • maintain inventory of supplies and order new stock as needed
  • ensure front desk operations run smoothly and efficiently
  • conduct hub tours responsive to the needs of prospective customers
  • sell memberships
