Job Description

The Midtown Association (MA) is a well-established non-profit organization dedicated to making Midtown the cultural, creative, and vibrant heart of Sacramento's urban core. The Communications Coordinator role at Midtown Association is a full-time position that requires a proactive and versatile professional to support the implementation of roughly 30 integrated communications campaigns annually. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Communications, this position plays a critical role in amplifying Midtown Association's messaging and enhancing engagement across various digital and community platforms. The role demands excellence in producing social media content, managing email marketing campaigns, updating website content, coordinating media outreach, and supporting event execution to maintain brand consistency and elevate the overall visibility of Midtown initiatives. Beyond tactical execution, the coordinator collaborates closely with the Placemaking, Clean and Safe, and Events teams to ensure a cohesive narrative and impactful storytelling throughout the Midtown district. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven team environment and possess a strong mix of creativity, technical acumen, and communication savvy. This role not only contributes to the promotion of local businesses, cultural events, public safety initiatives, and urban projects but also requires the ability to handle multiple projects with speed and accuracy while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders, consultants, and partners. The position involves both office-based and remote work, with occasional outdoor event support, necessitating adaptability to varying noise levels and dynamic event conditions. Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or related field
  • Associate degree in communications, marketing, or related field
  • Relevant work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis
  • Experience managing social media platforms and content calendars
  • Ability to shoot and edit short-form video content
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Mailchimp, and Canva
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs and pass background, driving, and drug screenings
  • Must be self-motivated, flexible, and able to work with limited supervision
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic event environment with varying noise levels

Job Qualifications

  • Associate degree in communications, marketing, or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years professional experience in communications or marketing
  • Experience managing social media platforms and content calendars
  • Ability to shoot and edit short-form video content
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Mailchimp, and Canva
  • Experience with WordPress, SEO tools, and Google Analytics preferred
  • Familiarity with project management software preferred
  • Basic Adobe Creative Cloud knowledge preferred
  • Experience with paid social or Google Ads trafficking preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently

Job Duties

  • Support implementation of about 30 annual communications campaigns
  • Maintain project timelines and assist in coordinating deadlines
  • Capture live content and manage social media coverage at events
  • Draft and schedule social media content and email marketing campaigns
  • Update website content and support SEO and digital optimization
  • Manage daily social media publishing and monitor engagement
  • Coordinate influencer collaborations
  • Ensure adherence to brand standards and develop graphics
  • Assist with media requests and prepare press materials
  • Support stakeholder presentations and attend meetings
  • Complete other duties as assigned
