The position of Common Area Attendant at Glenaire is integral to maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall pleasantness of the community’s shared spaces. This role requires a dedicated individual who is well-versed in all aspects of cleaning procedures, with responsibilities spanning independent living areas, healthcare facilities, offices, and back-of-house locations. The Common Area Attendant plays a critical role in upholding Glenaire's high standards of hygiene and resident satisfaction by ensuring that all common areas and restrooms meet community expectations for cleanliness and order.

Working in this position involves routine and special cleaning tasks, proactive inventory management, and close communication with the Environmental Services leadership team to address maintenance needs. A successful candidate must have knowledge of infection control standards, OSHA regulations, hazardous chemical handling, and waste management to contribute effectively to meeting health department inspection requirements. This role is responsible for following safety protocols meticulously and ensuring that the Environmental Services Department consistently meets all cleanliness and safety policies.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in commercial or healthcare cleaning preferred
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and standing for extended periods
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to follow all safety and operational procedures
  • Basic understanding of chemical handling and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of environmental cleaning procedures
  • Understanding of infection control and OSHA/SDS standards
  • Experience in using cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and colleagues

Job Duties

  • Work in Independent Living and Health Care of Glenaire with knowledge of all cleaning procedures
  • Clean all public and employee restrooms to community standards
  • Acknowledge residents and colleagues in a pleasant manner
  • Follow security procedures regarding resident belongings
  • Stock all public area closets and communicate proactively about stock levels
  • Report all maintenance concerns to an EVS Leader
  • Stock supplies and refill chemicals for Housekeeping cart for next day preparation
  • Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Apply knowledge of infection control, OSHA/SDS, and hazardous chemicals to pass Health Department Inspections
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and programs
  • Complete all scheduled special cleaning procedures monthly, weekly, yearly
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by the Director of Environmental Services
  • Maintain high standards for safety, cleanliness, and respect for residents' property
