Job Description
SSP America is a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in high-traffic locations such as airports, train stations, and travel hubs. As part of a global brand dedicated to delivering a diverse range of culinary experiences, SSP America focuses on quality, innovation, and exceptional customer service. The company operates a wide portfolio of restaurants, cafes, and bars, including well-known local and international brands, catering to millions of customers every year. As a major player in airport foodservice, SSP America prides itself on its commitment to food safety, sustainability, and the professional development of its team members. This makes it an excellent place to grow a career in foodservice management with opportunities for advancement in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
For this particular role, SSP America is seeking an experienced Commissary Manager to join their team at Miami International Airport (MIA). This role is essential to the company's operational success, as the commissary is vital to supporting multiple restaurants within the airport with high-quality food production and delivery services. The Commissary Manager will oversee all aspects of commissary activities, ensuring that food is produced at a high volume while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards. This includes managing purchasing, inventory control, vendor relations, and staff scheduling with a focus on cost control to maximize profitability. The position offers a competitive salary of $65,000 per year along with a full benefits package and opportunities for career growth within the company.
The role demands strong leadership skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and the capacity to work efficiently in a bustling airport environment where timely delivery and operational excellence are critical. The successful candidate will be comfortable interacting with executive leadership, union representatives, and a diverse team of hourly employees. They must possess a strong analytical mindset for conducting operational gap analyses to drive continuous business improvements and customer satisfaction. Familiarity with restaurant and foodservice management, especially in multi-unit operations, will be key to excelling in this role. Additionally, a culinary background and high computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, will support the effective handling of purchasing, scheduling, and compliance tasks.
At SSP America, the Commissary Manager will have the chance to work in one of the nation’s busiest airports, gain exposure to a variety of local and national restaurant brands, and be part of a company known for its robust training programs and supportive management structure. This role represents a unique blend of culinary expertise, operational management, and strategic leadership within an exciting travel hospitality setting. It is ideal for individuals passionate about foodservice, quality control, and building efficient, scalable operations that meet the high standards of a top-tier airport foodservice provider.
