This inclusive culture fosters collaboration and growth, making it an outstanding place for professionals seeking to advance their careers in the automotive repair sector.
The role available at Gerber Collision & Glass in Bossier City, LA, is for a Porter position, which is a temporary engagement expected to last approximately 5 to 6 weeks or more. The hourly wage ranges from $15.00 to $20.00 plus, depending on location, skill, education, and experience. The Porter plays a crucial role in complementing quality repairs by ensuring customer vehicles are cleaned before delivery and maintaining the cleanliness and neatness of both the shop and office premises. This position requires a keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a positive attitude, as well as the physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, standing, and operating a motor vehicle.
The job involves executing the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan consistently, which emphasizes excellent workplace and service standards. Key responsibilities include housekeeping duties inside the office and production areas, such as emptying garbage cans, floor cleaning, dusting, sweeping, and managing unwanted vehicle parts. The Porter also maintains the parking lots and grounds, including snow removal when necessary, and is involved in the pre-washing and post-repair cleaning of customer vehicles. Additional duties involve transporting vehicles to sublet repair locations as needed.
Gerber Collision & Glass values candidates who bring a customer service mindset, reliability, and eagerness to learn and grow. The company provides a supportive work environment with comprehensive benefits to support employee success, including paid time off, paid parental leave, paid holidays, and medical insurance effective from day one. Other benefits include retirement plans, disability and life insurance, opportunities for continuing education, and additional perks like free safety glasses and uniform stipends.
