The Porter role at Gerber Collision & Glass plays a crucial part in supporting the overall customer experience by ensuring vehicles are clean and well-maintained throughout the repair process. This position supports both the repair team and customers by maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the shop and office facilities. As a Porter, employees contribute to the smooth operation of daily activities by handling vehicle pre-washing, post-repair cleaning, transport, and facility upkeep tasks.

This is an hourly paid position with compensation ranging from $15.00 to $18.00 per hour, depending on experience. The role requires individuals who are dependable, attentive to detail, and eager to learn within a team-oriented setting. The work involves physical activities such as lifting, walking, and standing, along with occasional tasks like shoveling snow in colder seasons to keep sidewalks clear.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 18 years of age or older
  • valid driver's license
  • ability to multitask
  • ability to pull/push, carry, walk 5+ miles, sit 5+ hours, stand 5+ hours
  • ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl 1+ hour
  • lift up to 50 pounds
  • withstand exposure to working near moving mechanical parts

Job Duties

  • Ensure consistent execution of WOW plan
  • maintain the daily housekeeping of the interior of the office including emptying garbage cans, cleaning floors, and dusting
  • maintain the daily housekeeping of the production area including emptying waste cans, sweeping floors, disposing of unwanted vehicle parts, and organizing tools and equipment
  • maintain parking lots and grounds including shoveling sidewalks as necessary
  • pre-wash customer vehicles prior to repairs
  • clean customer vehicles interior and exterior after repairs
  • transport customer vehicles to sublet locations for repairs
