Job Requirements

  • Minimum age 18
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of company orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Ability to perform detailed and precise tasks
  • Ability to work with customers attentively
  • Physical ability to lift up to 55 lbs and manage more with assistance
  • Capacity to stand, walk, reach, bend, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs, and perform fine motor movements
  • Adherence to food safety and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of computer systems and equipment such as PC, symbol scanner, scales, label machines

Job Duties

  • Provide superior customer service
  • Take orders from customers by telephone or in person
  • Answer customer questions regarding products and assist with selections
  • Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh products effectively
  • Slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality
  • Assist in technical areas such as baking, frying, decorating, and cleaning
  • Use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build sales
  • Clean and sanitize display cases
  • Operate and maintain equipment properly
  • Comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
  • Comply with department and store operating procedures
  • Manage department-specific tasks such as recording production and shrink in bakery
  • Take care of service counter customers in deli
  • Use ordering systems and perform inventory management
  • Prepare catering orders for customer pickup
  • Serve and package prepared foods
  • Educate customers on preparation and reheating instructions
