Job Description
Trail Town Coffee is a vibrant and community-focused coffee shop located in the heart of Downtown Chattanooga. We are currently seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as the Coffee Shop General Manager. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $40,000 to $45,000, not including tips, and includes attractive benefits such as health insurance with a 50/50 cost split, a PTO program, employee discounts, and a complimentary gym membership to High Point Climbing And Fitness. As the Coffee Shop General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of Trail Town Coffee's daily operations. Your responsibilities will extend beyond management duties to include hands-on participation as a barista and engagement with front and back-of-house activities. This multifaceted role demands a balance of leadership, operational expertise, and customer-centric focus.
You will manage and support a team of baristas, leading by example to ensure every customer enjoys exceptional service and high-quality coffee. Your managerial duties include scheduling, payroll, inventory management, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the coffee shop meets company policies and standards. Collaboration with the wider management team to drive sales and achieve financial goals is a key component of your role.
On the barista side, you will prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages and food items with a commitment to consistency and excellence. Maintaining an organized and clean workspace and engaging meaningfully with customers to enhance their experience also falls under your purview.
Additionally, you will oversee back-of-house operations such as managing inventory deliveries, monitoring equipment, and developing seasonal menus and new products that keep the offerings fresh and exciting. Front-of-house duties include greeting customers warmly, creating an inviting atmosphere, assisting with menu selections, and handling customer inquiries and concerns swiftly to maintain satisfaction.
A unique aspect of this role involves the ability or willingness to sell rock climbing gear, including shoes, harnesses, and hardware. This adds an exciting dimension to the position, integrating the retail of climbing equipment with the coffee shop environment, appealing to enthusiasts and strengthening community ties.

Job Duties
- Oversee daily operations of Trail Town Coffee including opening and closing procedures
- Manage a team of baristas providing guidance training and support to ensure exceptional customer service
- Handle scheduling payroll and inventory management
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop
- Implement and uphold company policies and procedures
- Collaborate with management team to drive sales and meet financial targets
- Prepare and serve a variety of high-quality coffee beverages and food ensuring consistency and excellence
- Provide friendly and efficient customer service taking orders and processing transactions with accuracy
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace including equipment maintenance and restocking supplies
- Uphold Trail Town Coffee's standards for product quality and presentation
- Engage with customers to enhance their experience and promote loyalty
- Receive and manage deliveries ensuring proper storage and rotation of inventory
- Develop seasonal menu and new products
- Monitor and maintain equipment troubleshooting issues as needed
- Greet customers with a warm and welcoming attitude
- Create a positive and inviting atmosphere for guests to relax and enjoy their coffee
- Assist customers with menu selections and provide recommendations
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or concerns in a timely manner
- Ability to sale rock climbing gear including shoes harnesses and hardware or willing to learn about rock climbing and climbing gear sales
