This role is for a Barista position within the Coffee Shop department at Hy-Vee. The Barista will play a crucial role in delivering excellent customer service by efficiently managing coffee and food orders, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers. This position is non-exempt and part of the operational team directly reporting to district and store-level management including the District Store Director and Coffee Shop Department Manager. The role requires proactive engagement with customers, attentiveness to product freshness, and cooperation with fellow team members to ensure smooth daily operations.

The Barista is responsible for preparing and replenishing coffee and food products, handling customer orders both in-person and via telephone, and ensuring adherence to health and safety standards. This individual must be capable of handling moderate physical activity such as lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks. Strong interpersonal skills are essential since this role involves constant interaction with customers, addressing their requests with patience and professionalism, and contributing positively to Hy-Vee's customer-focused culture.

In addition to providing quality customer service, the Barista is expected to maintain the appearance and hygiene of the coffee shop work area, manage inventory levels, assist with pricing and ordering products, and support other store areas when needed. Knowledge of basic math and ability to follow written or verbal instructions are required to perform duties effectively.
