Job Description

The Williamsburg Inn is a prestigious historic hotel nestled in the heart of Virginia's colonial capital, Williamsburg. Established in 1937 by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., this grand establishment was designed to provide guests with an extraordinary lodging and dining experience, reflecting the rich history and cultural heritage of the area. Recognized as a Historic Hotel of America by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Williamsburg Inn is a symbol of luxury and refined hospitality. It is also a proud member of Preferred Hotels and Resorts Worldwide and has gained global acclaim through accolades such as being featured in Travel + Leisure's Top 100 Hotels in the World and Conde Nast Traveler's Top 100 Hotels worldwide.

Guests of the Williamsburg Inn enjoy an environment of Five Star, Five Diamond service, characterized by impeccable attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Every aspect of the property, from its beautifully maintained grounds and elegantly appointed rooms to its gourmet dining options, is curated to deliver an exceptional guest experience. The Inn’s team members are dedicated to upholding its high standards through warm, personalized service and a welcoming atmosphere.

The role being offered is an exciting opportunity for those enthusiastic about delivering exceptional hospitality and service in a historic setting. Upon being hired, new employees will begin with a probationary status, working up to 40 hours per week, allowing them to acclimate to the distinguished standards of the Williamsburg Inn. Successful completion of this probationary period may lead to eligibility for a comprehensive benefits package. The position involves warmly greeting guests, providing attentive and courteous food and beverage service including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and contributing to an overall memorable experience for patrons. Employees will be expected to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor and to work collaboratively with colleagues and management to exceed guest expectations.

In this role, candidates will have the chance to learn formal tea service and develop skills in managing large groups of guests efficiently and courteously. A positive and upbeat attitude is essential to foster a vibrant and friendly environment, reflective of the Inn’s reputation. Punctuality and adherence to uniform policies are also important components, ensuring consistency with the Inn’s brand image. This position requires individuals to treat all guests and team members with respect and to uphold the highest ethical standards as outlined by Virginia's Alcoholic Beverage Control regulations. These regulations include a prohibition against employing individuals with certain felony or drug-related convictions in alcohol-serving roles, emphasizing the Inn's commitment to safety and integrity.

Working at the Williamsburg Inn offers a unique blend of historic charm and contemporary luxury, making it an ideal setting for hospitality professionals looking to advance their careers in a celebrated and award-winning environment. The position promises a dynamic work experience filled with opportunities to interact with diverse guests, be part of a dedicated team, and contribute meaningfully to the Inn’s legacy of exceptional service.
