Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food handler certification
- Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training certification or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years experience in customer service or related field
- Ability to work flexible and late hours
- Ability to lift or move up to 25 lbs using proper techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced and loud environment
- Must have work authorization without visa sponsorship
- Willingness to occasionally work special events
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
Job Qualifications
- Food handler certification
- Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training certification or equivalent
- Ability to work late hours
- Flexible schedule
- Working knowledge of cocktail tray service
- Basic food service experience
- Knowledge of responsible alcohol service
- Familiarity with drink recipes and garnishes
- Experience with point of sales systems
- Minimum of 3 years work experience interacting positively with people
- Tolerance of all cultures, music and art forms
- Ability to deal with intoxicated guests in a positive and safety minded manner
- Cash handling experience preferred
- Experience recognizing valid IDs preferred
- Experience in a live music environment preferred
Job Duties
- Anticipate and respond to guests' needs
- Suggestively sell beverages and menu items
- Take orders and answer guest questions
- Communicate drink orders to bar through Point of Sales system
- Deliver drinks maneuvering trays through large crowds
- Maintain line of sight and atmosphere control by circulating work area
- Remove dirty glasses and dishes from tables including lifting and moving bus tubs up to 25 lbs
- Keep tables clean and wiped
- Clean spills, remove food, trash or obstacles from the floor using proper techniques
- Maintain safety and sanitation standards
- Follow housekeeping standards per House of Blues policy
- Keep current on all standard operating procedures
- Request identification from guests who appear under 30
- Ensure responsible alcohol service according to local ordinance and company policies
- Recognize and refuse service to intoxicated guests
- Receive and process payments including cash, credit card, and travelers checks
- Ensure comp and void checks are processed according to policy
- Assist other servers and staff as needed
- Occasionally work special events throughout the venue
