The Bartender at PENN Entertainment plays a crucial role in enhancing the guest experience by providing personalized, timely, and professional beverage service in a busy casino environment. This role demands both skill and enthusiasm—it requires the ability to prepare and serve drinks accurately using the Smart Bar System, interact with guests warmly by using their names, and promote casino events and programs. The ideal candidate will be an ambassador of goodwill, exemplifying superior guest service during daily operations as well as public relations functions.

In addition to crafting beverages, Bartenders at PENN Entertainment monitor guest alcohol consumption responsibly, adhering to ServSafe guidelines and intervening when necessary to ensure a safe environment. They are also responsible for maintaining clean and stocked workstations, operating cash registers with precision, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company standards. This role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and sometimes crowded setting, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality in all company matters. Bartenders must be familiar with cocktail ingredients, proper mixing and pouring techniques, and have the ability to work shifts that may include high-volume days, nights, holidays, and weekends. Obtaining a Gaming Permit and completing ServSafe Alcohol training certification are mandatory for success in this role.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Must be able to count money and change correctly
  • Must be able to work high volume days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed
  • Must be familiar with cocktail ingredients and proper mixing and pouring techniques
  • Ability to work in small areas in a fast paced and often crowded environment
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
  • Must be able to obtain a Gaming Permit
  • Must successfully complete ServSafe Alcohol training certification course

Job Qualifications

  • General Education Degree (GED) or high school diploma
  • One to six months of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with cocktail ingredients and proper mixing and pouring techniques
  • Ability to work in small areas in a fast paced and often crowded environment
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public

Job Duties

  • Monitors guest consumption of alcohol and intervenes as needed according to Serv Safe guidelines
  • Serves as ambassador of goodwill while working and at customer and public relations functions
  • Promotes casino events and programs
  • Provides personalized service and uses guest name
  • Resolves service problems according to guidelines
  • Prepares drinks utilizing the Smart Bar System and presents drinks to guests in a timely manner
  • Provides fast, friendly, professional beverage service to casino guests and beverage servers
  • Makes rounds of their assigned section of the Casino floor to serve guests within established service standards
  • Prepares and pours drink orders with proper portions and ingredients according to recipe, communicates with beverage servers, and presents drinks to guests or servers as required
  • Slices and pits fruit as required
  • Operates and maintains all equipment and utensils as required in accordance with established guidelines and safety procedures
  • Operates a cash register/POS System, ringing proper amount into the register and giving the guest or server the correct change
  • Accounts for all cash, charge and complimentary sales according to established procedure
  • Maintains integrity of all financial controls and responsibilities
  • Maintains a clean and stocked workstation in accordance with established health and safety guidelines
  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior guest service in accordance with department and company standards and programs
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to management
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters
