The Bar Server position at Salty's on Alki is a part-time role designed to expand with increasing hours during the busy spring and summer seasons. This role is essential to the guest experience, requiring individuals who are vibrant, engaging, and dedicated to providing friendly, timely, and genuine service. Bar Servers at Salty's are the face of the establishment's lively bar scene, responsible for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere where guests feel welcomed and valued. The job demands open availability, particularly on weekends and holidays, as these are the busiest times that require reliable and flexible team members.

Ideal candidates for the Bar Server role will either be seasoned professionals with comprehensive high-volume full-service experience or those who have established a solid foundation in restaurant operations with a focus on spirits and wine knowledge. Job Requirements

  • Open availability, including weekends and holidays
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in high-volume full service
  • Basic knowledge of spirits, wine, and service procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to operate point-of-sale systems
  • Positive attitude and team player mindset
  • Must be able to work in fast-paced environments
  • Willingness to provide excellent customer service

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years' high-volume full service experience
  • A warm, friendly, and engaging personality
  • Basic knowledge of dining room service procedures and functions
  • Working knowledge of beer, wine, liquor, and common drinks
  • Basic math skills, cash handling procedures, and knowledge of point-of-sale system
  • Ability to work in a standing position for up to 5 hours
  • Ability to safely lift and maneuver trays of food frequently weighing 20 to 25 pounds

Job Duties

  • Take beverage orders from guests and servers
  • Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the restaurant's standard drink recipes
  • Learn the names and personally recognize regular guests
  • Record drink orders accurately and immediately input orders into the point of sales system
  • Accept guest payment, process credit card charges, and make change if applicable
  • Wash and sterilize glassware
  • Maintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages
  • Clear and reset tables in bar area and work outside bar if needed
  • Present drink menus, make recommendations, and answer questions regarding beverages and food
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves, and storage areas
  • Receive and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar
  • Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to restaurant manager
  • Assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies
  • Greet guests who pass within 5 feet
