The Child Nutrition Department of Edinburg CISD is dedicated to providing nutritious and balanced meals to students throughout the academic year. As Food Preparation Staff, the individual will report directly to the Child Nutrition Manager and will be assigned to various campuses as needed. Responsibilities include preparing and serving a diverse range of food items following USDA portion size guidelines and dietitian instructions for special diets. The position requires proficiency in using kitchen equipment such as ranges, ovens, steam kettles, mixers, and slicers, as well as maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen environment. The job also entails following safety and sanitation procedures to uphold the highest standards of personal and workplace hygiene.

This position is physically demanding, requiring medium to light lifting and carrying of items, standing or walking for extended periods, and working under varied environmental conditions including exposure to heat, cold, and cleaning chemicals. Candidates must possess a current food handler's certificate and be willing to learn through on-the-job training if prior experience in volume food preparation is limited. The role demands dependability, efficiency, and the ability to work independently while fostering positive working relationships with supervisors and peers.

Job Requirements

  • six months experience in volume food preparation or ability to learn on the job
