Job Requirements
- Completed accredited RN program
- BSN degree
- Current Pennsylvania nursing license
- Current New Jersey nursing license within 6 months of hire
- Current PA DOH PHRN certification
- Obtain advanced nursing certification (CEN, CFRN, CTRN, or CCRN) within 1 year
- Obtain NJ MICN and ACM certifications within 6 months
- Current ACLS, PALS, BCLS, PHTLS certifications
- Minimum 5 years full-time RN experience in critical care (ER, ICU, cath lab)
- Ability to pass criminal and child abuse background checks
- Maintain all certifications and medical command requirements for PA and NJ annually
- Body weight must be at or below 230 lbs in flight suit, helmet, and approved boots
- Valid driver’s license
- Other credentialing as required by state laws
Job Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited RN program
- BSN required
- Current Pennsylvania nursing license
- Current New Jersey nursing license within 6 months of hire
- Current PA DOH PHRN certification
- Advanced nursing certification within 1 year of hire such as CEN, CFRN, CTRN, or CCRN
- NJ MICN & ACM certification within 6 months of hire
- Current ACLS, PALS, BCLS, and PHTLS certifications
- At least 5 years full-time RN experience in a critical care environment such as ER, ICU, or cath lab
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Pre-hospital ALS experience is a plus
- Ability to pass criminal and child abuse background checks
- Maintain all requirements for full medical command in PA and NJ annually
- Ability to maintain body weight at or below 230 lbs in flight suit
- All certifications and licensure must be current to maintain full medical command
Job Duties
- Arrive on time and in full uniform ready to work
- Participate in shift change and briefing with off going ground/flight crew
- Perform thorough check of aircraft, ambulance, and base at shift start including cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking supplies
- Check and sign off medications and vehicle check sheets daily
- Assist pilot and driver with preflight inspection, participate in shift safety briefing, pre liftoff and landing safety checklists, and post-call debriefings
- Maintain clear communication with PennCOMM about aircraft, ambulance, patient status and other essential information
- Coordinate with local communication centers as needed
- Communicate with on-site landing team to ensure safe and functional landing zones
- Assist pilot in-flight using navigation systems including aircraft radios, GPS, NVGs, and other aircraft equipment
- Maintain proficiency with aviation technology and equipment such as GPS, radios, satellite phones, NVG, and medical interior of aircraft
- Maintain proficiency with critical care medical equipment including IABP, VAD/ECMO, ventilators, IV pumps
- Provide appropriate and efficient care according to PennSTAR protocols and document all care prior to shift completion
- Perform other duties as assigned
