Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education development (GED) equivalent required
- Two years of general work experience in direct client service required
- Two years of work experience in medical billing and coding required
- Fluency in writing, texting and speaking English required
- Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado photo identification card
- Must be able to provide personal transportation for work-related purposes
- Must obtain annual flu vaccination and any job specific immunizations
- May be required to submit to a TB test
- Preferred certification in medical billing and coding
- Preferred courses or training in medical terminology
- Desired ability to write, text and speak fluently in Spanish.
Job Qualifications

- Two years of general work experience in direct client service
- Two years of work experience in medical billing and coding
- Fluency in English writing, texting, and speaking
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Skilled in using electronic health records and office software
- Experience with insurance billing, coding, and claims processing
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and with diverse stakeholders
- Preferred certification in medical billing and coding
- Courses or training in medical terminology
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
Job Duties
- Provide front-line client support via phone and in-person, including inquiries and referrals to internal and community services
- Manage and monitor daily appointment schedules to ensure availability and operational efficiency
- Maintain confidentiality and communicate appropriate information in compliance with HIPAA
- Oversee full client visit process: scheduling, insurance verification, documentation, billing, payment collection, and record updates
- Assist with insurance billing processes, ensuring accurate ICD-10 coding and timely reimbursements
- Log medications and record payments per procedural and financial standards
- Audit billing reports, resolve denied claims, submit appeals, and make account adjustments to maximize reimbursements
- Regularly review and update fee schedules, CPT, and ICD-10 codes in the practice management system
- Respond to client and employee inquiries regarding billing
- generate and distribute billing statements
- Support insurance credentialing for department-sponsored providers and serve as administrator for affiliated insurers
- Participate in training new employees and collaborate with internal teams to ensure operational excellence
- Record payments according to established standards
- Review payment schedules ensuring the integrity of the billing process
- Respond to public health emergencies as needed
- Contribute to agency strategic, performance management, workforce development and quality improvement plans
- Participate in community response trainings and drills
- Perform other functions as required to fulfill position expectations and goals.
