Job Description

Vanguard is a globally recognized investment management company committed to putting clients first and championing their financial well-being. It is one of the world’s largest providers of mutual funds and other financial products, distinguished by its client-focused approach and dedication to delivering superior investment outcomes. The company’s mission is clear and impactful: to take a stand for all investors, treat them fairly, and give them the best chance for investment success. Through decades of expertise, Vanguard has built a reputation not only for financial innovation but also for a strong culture of integrity, service, and collaboration. Its work environment fosters continuous learning and development, encouraging employees, known as “crew,” to grow their skills while contributing meaningfully to client journeys.

The Client Service Excellence Center associate role at Vanguard plays a pivotal part in fulfilling the company’s mission. This fully remote position involves connecting with clients via inbound phone calls to support a wide array of account-related needs. The role’s core responsibility is to provide exceptional service during some of the most significant financial moments in clients’ lives—whether that means aiding a first-time homebuyer or helping someone prepare for retirement. The associate is not only a resource but also an advocate who leads with empathy, ownership, and a commitment to solving problems effectively and quickly.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $52,000 to $58,000 as a base, complemented by quarterly performance-based bonuses, merit increases, and company bonuses. In addition, employees have the opportunity to earn up to a $15,000 bonus upon obtaining the required licensing. Vanguard also rewards long-term dedication with milestone bonuses: $10,000 at the 3-year anniversary, $20,000 at the 5-year anniversary, and $20,000 every 5 years thereafter. This comprehensive compensation and recognition package highlights Vanguard’s commitment to valuing and retaining talent.

Working as a Client Service Excellence Center associate requires a willingness to obtain the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) license, which is mandatory and must be acquired before the start date. Vanguard supports this process by providing training resources and covering the exam costs. The role demands full remote work confined to within the state of Iowa, ensuring compliance with jurisdictional regulations. Beyond client interaction, the associate collaborates cross-functionally with internal departments to enhance both client and crew experiences continuously. This involves undertaking strategic initiatives that improve service delivery and operational excellence.

Vanguard places significant importance on client advocacy without demanding prior financial expertise—aspiring crew members with a passion for helping others, strong interpersonal skills, and a growth mindset are welcomed. Most successful candidates have at least three years of customer-facing or inbound phone experience and demonstrate ownership over client outcomes. The company cultivates an inclusive environment where diverse backgrounds are valued, and ongoing professional development is encouraged.

In essence, joining Vanguard as a Client Service Excellence Center associate means becoming part of a mission-driven organization that prioritizes clients' financial success and supports employees through every stage of their career. With a robust benefits package, clear licensing requirements, and milestone rewards, this role not only offers financial and professional growth but also fosters a culture of respect, innovation, and excellence.
