Job Duties
- Perform routine janitorial work
- clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them
- gather and empty trash
- clean restroom areas including men’s, women’s and supply restrooms
- clean and polish furniture and fixtures
- clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
- dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment
- mix water and detergents or acids to prepare cleaning solutions according to safety specifications
- steam-clean or shampoo carpets
- strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
- clean laboratory equipment using solvents and power cleaning tools
- follow procedures for use of chemical cleaners and power equipment
- monitor building security and safety by locking doors and checking electrical appliances
- move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies
- clear debris from grounds and building surroundings
- notify managers of the need for repairs or additions to building systems
- requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance
- set up and remove decorations, tables, chairs, and scaffolding for events
- spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent infestations
- perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
