The Clara Maass Medical Center, part of RWJBarnabas Health network, is currently seeking a dedicated Cleaner for its Environmental Services Department. This per diem role offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.91 to $19.98, reflecting the importance of maintaining a clean, sanitary hospital environment. Working under the supervision of the Department of Environmental Services Supervisor or Manager, the Cleaner plays a vital role in ensuring that patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary areas, and other designated hospital locations meet strict hygiene and cleanliness standards.

The Cleaner position is assigned primarily to day shifts with working hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Candidates must be willing to work a minimum of one shift per week, including every other weekend and holiday, reflecting the facility’s continuous operational needs. This role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform routine physical tasks such as standing for long periods, walking, pushing, lifting, bending, and reaching overhead.

A successful Cleaner will be proficient with common cleaning tools and supplies, including mops, floor waxes, scouring pads, and vacuum cleaners. Responsibilities focus on maintaining a safe, sanitized environment that reduces the risk of infection transmission. This entails cleaning floors using designated disinfectants, scouring and polishing sinks and showers, dusting furniture and equipment, restocking dispensers, and handling waste disposal along with properly cleaning waste containers.

Ideal candidates have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions. They demonstrate knowledge of infection control procedures and the discipline to manage both independent and team-oriented tasks effectively.
