Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), serves as a broadline food distributor with a commitment to connecting local businesses such as independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries with high-quality food products. Established with the vision of supporting America's diverse food supply chain, Performance Foodservice offers more than just food delivery; it fosters lasting relationships with customers through expert consultation, operational advice, and tailored menu development. The company prides itself on a culture of respect, inclusiveness, and safety, ensuring an encouraging workplace where employees can thrive and build successful careers.

The CDL-B Driver position at Performance Foodservice plays a pivotal role in maintaining the food distribution infrastructure that feeds communities nationwide. This role involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks to deliver food and food-related products in intrastate and interstate settings, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive-and-drop routes. Scheduled primarily Monday through Friday with early morning dispatch hours from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m., drivers earn a competitive hourly wage of $28.84. Beyond driving, the CDL-B Driver acts as an ambassador for the company, cultivating positive customer relationships through timely, professional service. Safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations are paramount, as drivers conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, report safety issues, and adhere to company policies to uphold the highest standards.

Responsibilities include performing detailed safety checks on vehicles and trailers, verifying loads, managing delivery documentation, and ensuring products are delivered in excellent condition. Drivers also handle customer interactions, collecting payments where necessary, and managing returns and damaged goods. Physical demands of the job involve loading and unloading products typically ranging from 10 to 35 pounds, with some items weighing up to 90 pounds. The role requires use of equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates.

Performance Foodservice offers robust benefits starting from day one, including health and wellness programs, employee stock purchase plans, 401(k) matching, education assistance, paid time off, and growth opportunities within a supportive environment that values safety, recognition, and respect. The company actively upholds equal employment opportunity principles, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workplace. For individuals passionate about the logistics of food distribution and committed to safety and customer service excellence, this role provides a dynamic career path with a reputable industry leader.
