Job Description

This position as a Driver, Formula CDL-B, based out of Rogers, MN, plays an essential role in the food distribution system by ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products. The role involves operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on various routes including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive-and-drop assignments. The driver is responsible for following Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, conducting thorough safety checks, handling freight with care, and maintaining professional communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers. This position contributes directly to the company’s mission of delivering goods efficiently while fostering strong customer relationships, thus representing the face of Performance Foodservice.

The position offers competitive pay starting at $24 per hour during a brief training period, transitioning to component pay after training. The workweek consists of five days within Monday to Saturday, typically involving 10 to 12-hour days with dispatch times between midnight and 5 AM. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available to eligible new hires, enhancing the overall compensation package. Job Requirements

  • Valid CDL B license
  • Minimum 12 months commercial driving experience
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Valid current DOT health card or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including hand-lifting and using equipment to move freight

Job Qualifications

  • 12 months commercial driving experience
  • High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent
  • Valid CDL B
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Valid current DOT health card and/or able to secure new DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment such as two-wheeler, lift gate to move and/or stack product cases/freight

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Inspects tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and takes appropriate action as needed
  • Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately reports all safety hazards
  • Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • Checks and completes all required paperwork associated with freight in an accurate and legible fashion
  • Moves tractor to loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unloads products from trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • Collects money (cash or checks) where required
  • Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns, completes necessary paperwork
  • Unloads equipment and materials and removes trash from trailers as required
  • Completes daily hours of service records and logs according to Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean
  • Secures all equipment and completes necessary paperwork at the end of shift
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
