As a part of Performance Food Group (PFG), the company prides itself on building strong, collaborative relationships with its customers through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and operational experts. These professionals work closely with clients to provide valuable guidance on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and strategic decision-making to help independent restaurant owners and other customers succeed in competitive markets. Beyond just delivering delicious food, Performance Foodservice strives to empower its customers by fostering growth and operational excellence.
This CDL-B Driver position plays a crucial role within Performance Foodservice's dynamic logistics operations. The role offers competitive daily pay starting at $210 or more depending on route components, a generous $4000 sign-on bonus, and a standard 5-day work week with dispatching hours between midnight and 6 am. The driver is responsible for operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on various routes including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. This position ensures that food and food-service related products reach their destinations safely, timely, and in excellent condition, fully compliant with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
As the face of the company to customers and vendors, the CDL-B Driver is expected to uphold the company’s commitment to safety, professionalism, and customer service. Duties involve performing thorough pre- and post-trip safety inspections, documenting all required paperwork accurately, following DOT regulations rigorously, and maintaining communication with dispatchers and customers to resolve any delivery issues. Moreover, this role requires drivers to manage freight effectively, secure loads properly, and handle customer transactions when necessary. This multifaceted responsibility not only contributes to smooth supply chain operations but also fosters lasting customer relationships and reinforces the company’s reputation.
Performance Foodservice places high importance on providing a safe and inclusive work environment where employees are recognized and rewarded for their contributions. Employees benefit from comprehensive perks such as Day 1 Health and Wellness Benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K with employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, reflecting the company’s commitment to employee well-being and career advancement. Opportunities for growth and career development are actively supported, allowing drivers and other team members to expand their skills and take on additional responsibilities within the organization.
Overall, the CDL-B Driver role at Performance Foodservice is integral to sustaining the country’s food supply chain by ensuring reliable and efficient delivery services. The position requires a dedicated and responsible individual who meets all licensing and safety requirements and possesses the ability to handle the physical demands of moving products, including lifting and utilizing specialized equipment. This opportunity offers a rewarding career path for those who value teamwork, safety, and providing excellent customer service within an industry-leading distribution company.
