With a focus on customized attention and centralized contact for product lines, menu changes, and account coordination, PFG Customized serves customers across the United States and in more than 40 countries worldwide. This expansive reach and specialized service make PFG Customized a vital link in the food supply chain, particularly in the restaurant sector. Benefits include Day 1 Health & Wellness Benefits, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K Employer Matching, Education Assistance, Paid Time Off, among others, supporting both the professional and personal growth of its workforce.
The position available is for a Driver, Dedicated Backhaul within PFG Customized Distribution. This role is essential to the country’s food supply chain, responsible for the safe transportation and timely delivery of food and food-related products. The driver operates tractor-trailers (day cab or sleeper), tandem trailers, and/or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes. These routes may include local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive and drop assignments. The driver’s main responsibility is to pick up logistics loads and return them to PFG warehouse locations in good condition, ensuring accurate and timely delivery. Beyond driving, the role requires consistent and professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers to ensure smooth operations and effective problem resolution.
The job offers competitive pay at $170 per shuttle plus a daily per diem of $22.50, working Sunday through Thursday with dispatch times typically by noon or earlier. Additionally, candidates may receive a sign-on bonus of $7,500 subject to terms and conditions. This role provides opportunities for growth within a company that is committed to safety, respect, and employee recognition. Drivers also perform inspections of loads and paperwork, verify counts, and ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role is physically demanding; drivers are expected to hand-lift products ranging typically between 10 to 35 pounds and sometimes up to 60 to 90 pounds using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates.
Those joining PFG Customized Distribution as drivers will find themselves contributing to a critical function that keeps America’s food distribution system running smoothly. The company’s strong reputation and commitment to equal employment opportunity make it a desirable employer for qualified candidates seeking a reputable and stable career in logistics and delivery driving. Overall, the Driver, Dedicated Backhaul position offers a blend of professional driving responsibilities, customer service, and physical tasks, all within a supportive and progressive company environment.
