This position is an entry-level Driver Trainee opportunity where the candidate will learn and gain practical experience driving tractor trailers or straight trucks either intrastate or interstate. Responsibilities include delivery and unloading of food and related products on various routes such as local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, or overnight schedules. The role demands strict adherence to company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to ensure safety and efficiency. The Driver Trainee will work under the supervision of a trainer, assist in deliveries, and progressively take on independent duties as skills develop.
The trainee will be responsible for conducting mandatory safety inspections of vehicles and trailers, ensuring freight is loaded and secured correctly, maintaining accurate delivery documentation, and interacting professionally with customers and coworkers alike. This role requires excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset to effectively contribute to departmental and company goals. Other responsibilities include completing daily logs compliant with DOT standards, managing freight returns and damages, and supporting general housekeeping tasks to maintain cleanliness and safety in work areas.
Schedules for this position are Monday through Friday with dispatch times between 2 and 5 am, offering a consistent work routine and bi-weekly pay. The salary range is between $60,000 and $65,000 annually, reflecting the essential nature of this role in the food distribution chain. Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED or state approved equivalent
- 6 plus months commercial driving experience
- valid CDL A
- must be 21 years of age
- meet all state licensing and or certification requirements
- clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test
- pass road test
- attains or has valid current DOT Health Card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler lift gate and or other equipment to move and or stack product cases freight of varying size and weight throughout shift

Job Duties
- Attend and successfully complete entry level driver trainee or dock to driver training program
- ride-with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries
- perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections
- follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines
- inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined schedule
- unload products and verify delivery with customers
