Airgas operates with a strong focus on safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation, supported by its diverse team of approximately 18,000 associates. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare, Airgas benefits from a broad international presence, with Air Liquide operating in 60 countries and employing around 66,500 people. This extensive network allows Airgas to serve more than 4 million customers and patients, establishing itself as a vital contributor to various essential industries across the United States.
The current opportunity is for a Class A CDL Driver with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements to join Airgas’ Santa Fe Springs, CA location. This position is union-affiliated under the Teamsters and offers a competitive hourly wage of $36.50, paid weekly via direct deposit, with an additional referral bonus of $1000. The driver will work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule, starting at 6:00 pm, averaging about 50 hours per week. The role covers an expansive service area including San Diego, Palm Springs, Sylmar, Los Angeles, Pixley, and surrounding regions. Drivers will utilize a range of equipment including CDL A Tanker trucks, CDL A Dry Van trucks, and CDL B Box trucks, requiring flexibility and proficiency with all three vehicle types. A typical day involves 8-14 stops delivering and picking up dry ice and CO2, essential products for clients such as universities, laboratories, and other industries dependent on cold shipping and specialty gases.
This role requires not only exceptional driving skills and compliance with safety and regulatory standards but also customer interaction where drivers provide feedback and maintain service quality. It involves operating various warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload products efficiently. Beyond driving duties, drivers must perform thorough vehicle inspections before and after trips, secure cargo properly, and maintain cleanliness and safety inside their trucks. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to working in a drug-free environment and maintaining a clean driving record to ensure safe transportation practices.
Airgas prides itself on fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment that embraces different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives. The company is committed to equal opportunity employment and encourages candidates regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or disability to apply. Employees are valued for their contributions and offered comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, disability coverage, life insurance, and various leave options such as vacation, sick leave, and parental leave. Additional benefits supporting work-life balance and professional growth include a 401(k) plan with company matching, tuition reimbursement, and scholarship programs for employees' dependents.
Joining Airgas means being part of a company where safety, sustainability, and innovation are fundamental values, and employees play a crucial role in the success and growth of the organization. This position offers a rewarding career path for experienced CDL drivers looking to contribute to a reputable firm with a strong customer focus and industry leadership in dry ice and specialty gas logistics.
