The Shuttle Driver position at Performance Foodservice plays an essential role in the company’s logistics and distribution operations. This position is full-time and offers competitive pay starting at $34.50 per hour, with a schedule running Sunday through Thursday, beginning between 5 PM and 7 PM. The Shuttle Driver will be responsible for transporting empty trailers to various Operating Company warehouse locations and delivering fully loaded trailers back to domicile or shuttle yard locations. This role requires expertise in handling tandem trailers, tractor trailers, or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes, ensuring adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and safety standards.

This role is integral to maintaining the flow of goods within the supply chain, supporting America’s food distribution system by ensuring timely and safe delivery of products. Shuttle Drivers are expected to perform thorough safety inspections, report any safety or repair needs immediately, and follow company driving policies meticulously. The job requires exceptional communication skills as drivers regularly interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, addressing inquiries and collaborating effectively to meet service commitments.

Additional responsibilities include following predetermined route schedules, securing loads, handling necessary paperwork, and adhering to hook and unhook procedures in line with safety guidelines. The role also encompasses ancillary duties such as unloading equipment, maintaining cleanliness in and around the tractor and trailers, and participating as a team member to support broader operational needs. Candidates for this position must possess a valid CDL A license with a Doubles endorsement and have a minimum of twelve months of commercial driving experience. Additional prerequisites include a clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the previous three years, passing a post-offer drug test, a criminal background check, and a road test. Holding a valid DOT Health Card or the ability to obtain one is also mandatory.
