Job Description
US Foods is one of the largest and most respected foodservice distributors in the United States, known for its commitment to excellence, quality, and customer satisfaction. With a rich history of promoting from within and offering substantial training programs, US Foods provides a vibrant work environment where personal and professional growth is strongly encouraged. The company has built a reputation for its dedication to continuous improvement, making it a preferred choice for both customers and employees alike. As part of the US Foods team, employees benefit from a company culture that values integrity, collaboration, and service. The organization serves a wide variety of foodservice businesses, offering an extensive range of products and services designed to help clients succeed in their endeavors.
This driver role at US Foods offers an exciting opportunity for individuals seeking a career in logistics and transportation within the foodservice industry. The position requires safely operating commercial vehicles to deliver products directly to customers, ensuring that deliveries are accurate and timely while providing top-notch customer service. Drivers are essential in maintaining the reliability and integrity of US Foods’ supply chain by carefully handling and delivering products under various conditions. Starting pay for this role is $33.40 per hour, reflecting the importance of the position and the company’s willingness to invest in skilled drivers. The typical schedule for this job is five days a week, Monday through Saturday, offering a stable and consistent work routine.
As a US Foods driver, the responsibilities extend beyond simply driving a truck. The role involves physically unloading products using equipment such as two-wheelers and pallet jacks, verifying order accuracy with customers, handling payments when necessary, and performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to maintain safety standards. The job demands physical stamina, as lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling heavy products repeatedly during shifts is required. Additionally, the position requires the ability to drive and work in varying weather conditions while making multiple stops.
To be successful in this role, candidates must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid CDL Class A license with the appropriate endorsements and DOT qualifications, and have prior commercial driving experience, preferably in food and beverage delivery. The ability to operate manual transmission vehicles is a plus and might be necessary in certain locations. Competency in English for communication, understanding traffic signs, and report writing is mandatory. Another critical requirement is registration with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse, a secure database to monitor driver compliance with drug and alcohol program regulations.
US Foods is dedicated to supporting its drivers through comprehensive Total Rewards programs, including health insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, and various other benefits that recognize and honor the hard work and dedication of its associates. The company fosters a cooperative and supportive work atmosphere where employees can build long-term careers, grow their skills, and be part of a team that plays a vital role in the foodservice industry. Overall, this driver position at US Foods presents an excellent career opportunity for motivated individuals looking to join a leading company with a strong commitment to employee success and customer satisfaction.
