Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor that plays a vital role in the food supply chain across the United States. With a strong focus on serving independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries, Performance Foodservice partners closely with its customers through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts. This team offers tailored advice on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning to help customers grow and succeed. The company not only delivers high-quality food products but also provides comprehensive support to empower independent restaurant owners to achieve their business goals.
This employment opportunity is for a CDL-A Driver position with an average annual salary ranging between $85,000 and $100,000. The role operates on a schedule from Tuesday through Saturday with dispatch times between 10pm and 5am. Occasionally, this position may require an overnight layover. Known for its competitive pay and extensive benefits, including day one health and wellness coverage, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, Performance Foodservice fosters an inclusive workplace culture that emphasizes safety, recognition, and respect for its employees.
The CDL-A Driver is a pivotal role in maintaining the seamless distribution of food and food-service products. Drivers operating tractor trailers or straight trucks are responsible for making timely deliveries across intrastate and interstate routes, including local shuttles, over-the-road (OTR) hauls, and drive and drop assignments. The position requires adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations while ensuring the safe handling and delivery of goods. Beyond the logistics and transportation duties, drivers represent the company’s public face by building and maintaining strong customer relationships through professional interactions and reliable service.
Daily responsibilities include conducting rigorous pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of vehicles and trailers, verifying the condition and security of freight, and completing accurate delivery documentation. Drivers also manage the loading and unloading of products, ensure proper freight handling according to company policies, and handle customer payments where applicable. Safety is paramount in this role, as drivers must report any hazards, equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately and comply with all federal, state, and company driving guidelines. Additional tasks involve maintaining cleanliness and order within vehicle equipment and loading areas and securing all materials by the end of each shift.
As part of the Performance Foodservice team, CDL-A Drivers play an essential role in supporting America's food distribution system while enjoying opportunities for career advancement within a supportive and stable organization. This role is well-suited for individuals who value responsibility, take pride in their work, and wish to be part of a company that is committed to employee growth, safety, and well-being.
