This role of a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Core-Mark is pivotal in the country’s food supply chain, ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products to customers. These delivery professionals operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, shuttle, overnight, and drive and drop routes. They play a critical role in maintaining the high standards of product quality and customer satisfaction that Core-Mark upholds. Drivers not only transport goods but also embody the company’s values, serving as the face of the organization through their interactions with customers, vendors, and co-workers. The position demands adherence to Department of Transportation regulations and company safety policies while maintaining effective communication and teamwork within the department and broader organization.

Delivery drivers at Core-Mark perform essential duties such as conducting pre- and post-trip safety inspections of vehicles, verifying cargo integrity, and ensuring all paperwork is accurately completed. On delivery, they unload products, verify delivery receipts with customers, collect payments if necessary, and manage customer returns and damaged goods according to company protocols. Moreover, safety is paramount, requiring drivers to secure freight and vehicle equipment properly, promptly report any safety hazards, and comply with DOT health card and licensing requirements. The role requires physical capability to handle loading and unloading duties that involve lifting and maneuvering product cases of varying weights using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates. Core-Mark offers a Monday to Friday schedule from 2:00 AM to 12:30 PM, supporting a balanced work-life environment for their delivery professionals.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • valid CDL-A license and be 21 years of age or older
  • minimum 6 months route delivery experience in a CMV
  • meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • pass road test
  • attain or have valid current DOT health card or secure new DOT health card
  • able to hand-lift and use two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment to move and stack product cases of varying weights typically between 10 to 35 pounds and up to approximately 60 to 90 pounds depending on location

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • valid CDL-A license
  • minimum 6 months of route delivery experience in a commercial motor vehicle
  • meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • pass road test
  • attain or have valid current DOT health card or be able to secure new DOT health card
  • able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment to move and stack product cases of varying size and weight

Job Duties

  • perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • inspect tractor truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed
  • report all safety issues and repairs required
  • follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
  • move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • unload products from trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders as per company policy
  • verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • collect money where required
  • load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
  • ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean
  • complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at end of shift
  • perform other related duties as assigned
