The role of a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Core-Mark is vital to the country’s food supply chain. This position supports the distribution of food products across various regions, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. Drivers at Core-Mark are essential representatives of the company who not only handle critical logistics but also build strong relationships with customers through professional communication and service excellence. This is a full-time local position with a Monday through Friday day shift schedule that involves dispatch times from 1:30 AM to 3:30 AM, offering an attractive earning potential of up to $100,000 annually.
In this role, the Driver with a CDL-A license is responsible for driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight deliveries. The driver ensures that food and related products reach the customers safely and on time, in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The job involves thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, including the tractor, trailer, and freight, to maintain high safety standards. Drivers must perform accurate count checks, secure freight properly, and complete all delivery paperwork legibly and comprehensively. Moreover, drivers unload products, verify deliveries by obtaining customer signatures, handle customer returns, and are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the vehicle and loading dock areas. This comprehensive role also requires the driver to report safety hazards promptly and adhere strictly to DOT and company safety policies. Core-Mark’s driver role demands physical capability to hand-lift and use equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to move product cases weighing between 10 to 90 pounds depending on location.
Overall, this position offers growth opportunities within a company that values essential workers in the food distribution system. With its focus on safety, inclusivity, and a supportive work culture, Core-Mark provides a rewarding career path for dedicated professionals who seek to contribute to the convenience retail industry's success and America's food supply chain security.
