The role of Driver, Formula CDL-A at Core-Mark is pivotal to maintaining the integrity of the country’s food supply chain. This position is essential in ensuring that food and food-related products are delivered efficiently, safely, and promptly to a variety of customers. Delivery drivers not only transport goods but also serve as the face of the company, fostering strong relationships with clients through professionalism and reliability. This position safeguards that products arrive in excellent condition while adhering to all Department of Transportation regulations and company safety standards.

In this role, drivers operate both tractor trailers and straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight assignments. The Driver, Formula CDL-A will conduct comprehensive pre and post-trip inspections, maintain proper securing of freight, and ensure all deliveries meet quality and safety expectations. Additional responsibilities include accurate documentation of freight and driving hours, load and unload products, manage cash or check payments, and uphold a clean and organized work environment. Working a local Monday through Friday day shift with dispatch starting early in the morning, this position offers the potential for a salary up to $100,000, reflecting its critical contribution to the company’s logistics operations and the broader food distribution network in America.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
  • able to work local Monday through Friday day shift
  • able to communicate professionally with customers and coworkers
  • physically able to perform loading and unloading duties
  • reliable and safety conscious
  • pass all required safety and compliance checks

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 12 months tractor trailer commercial driving experience
  • valid CDL-A
  • clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • pass road test
  • attains or has current DOT Health Card or able to secure new one

Job Duties

  • Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
  • functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company
  • performs all required safety checks including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • reports all safety issues and repairs required
  • follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products loaded
  • checks and completes all required paperwork associated with freight
  • moves tractor to loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
  • drives to deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • unloads products and transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • performs damage control checks, scans and contacts supervisor about removing orders as per company policy
  • verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • collects money where required
  • loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • ensures tractor, trailer and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
  • performs housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
  • secures all equipment and completes paperwork at shift end
  • performs other related duties as assigned
