Job Description
US FOODS is one of the largest food distributors in the United States, with a longstanding reputation for excellence, a culture that promotes from within, and unparalleled opportunities for career growth. The company prides itself on fostering an environment where employees feel valued, supported, and rewarded for their contributions. Committed to developing its workforce, US FOODS offers ongoing job skills training and leadership development programs that empower employees to advance within the organization. Driven by a philosophy that centers on employees' importance, US FOODS emphasizes a workplace culture where the core belief 'YOU Matter' resonates throughout every level of the company. This commitment is reflected in competitive compensation packages and comprehensive benefits that respect and reward the dedication of its team members.
The role of a US FOODS Delivery Driver is critical to the success and customer satisfaction that the company is known for. As a key member of the transportation team, the Delivery Driver acts as one of the company’s front-line representatives, directly interacting with customers and impacting their overall experience. The driver is responsible for delivering a wide array of products including meats, produce, frozen goods, groceries, dry goods, equipment, and various supplies to customer locations. This position represents the foundation of US FOODS' operational success, relying on strong work ethic, adherence to cultural values, collaborative spirit, and exemplary service delivery.
The US FOODS Delivery Driver will enjoy several advantages, such as having a local route that allows them to be home every night and a work schedule typically running Monday through Saturday, starting early in the morning until the route is completed. Compensation for this role is competitive, with the expected base rate being $28.90 per hour at 90% of the union rate, along with the benefit of overtime pay. Moreover, the job comes with an extensive benefits package, including health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee stock purchase plans, and life insurance, ensuring that employees are well taken care of both on and off the job.
Driving for US FOODS requires more than just delivering products; the role demands a commitment to customer service excellence and reliability. Drivers are expected to unload products carefully, manage heavy lifting of items up to 80 pounds repeatedly, make frequent stops during shifts, handle deliveries even in inclement weather, and verify deliveries with customers to ensure accuracy. Where applicable, drivers may also collect payments in cash or checks. Beyond these daily tasks, US FOODS emphasizes safety, professionalism, and integrity in its drivers, ensuring that only qualified individuals who meet specific legal and physical requirements join the transportation team.
Ultimately, the US FOODS Delivery Driver role is not just a job but a stepping stone to a fulfilling career within a company that is dedicated to promoting from within and providing employees with the tools and support they need to succeed over the long term. Candidates applying can expect a workplace where hard work is recognized, career advancement is encouraged, and a diverse and inclusive work culture thrives. If you are looking for a dependable, rewarding career with a nationally recognized food distributor, US FOODS invites you to consider joining their transportation team and making a vital contribution to the company’s ongoing success.
