Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, is a leading distributor in the convenience retail industry, recognized as part of a Fortune 150 company. With over $23 billion in revenue, Core-Mark continues to grow through its commitment to providing fresh and broad-line solutions to retailers across the United States and Canada. The company prides itself on empowering its customers, employees, and communities, fostering a culture of inclusion, respect, and recognition. Core-Mark's extensive network of distribution centers ensures timely and efficient delivery of a wide range of products and services, supporting the dynamic needs of the retail market.
The position of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Core-Mark plays a vital role within the company’s supply chain operations. These drivers are essential in maintaining the integrity and timeliness of food product deliveries, directly impacting customer satisfaction and company reputation. The role involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes, including intrastate, interstate local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight deliveries. Drivers are responsible not only for the physical transportation of goods but also for maintaining strong relationships with customers through professionalism and effective communication.
Core-Mark offers a competitive compensation package with first-year pay ranging between $69,000 and $75,000, inclusive of base hourly wages, component, and overtime pay. This role is designed as a 4-day work week (Tuesday through Friday) with three-day weekends (Saturday through Monday), starting early shifts at 4:00 am. Drivers benefit from a safe and inclusive working environment with growth opportunities and annual merit increases. The employer also emphasizes health and wellness through Day 1 benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K matching, education assistance, and paid time off.
The duties required are comprehensive and ensure adherence to Department of Transportation regulations while supporting logistics efficiency. Drivers conduct pre- and post-trip safety inspections, verify cargo counts and customer invoices, secure freight, complete accurate delivery documentation, and manage customer returns. They are expected to handle physical tasks such as lifting products generally weighing between 10-35 pounds and occasionally up to 60-90 pounds using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates. Maintaining clean and safe vehicle conditions and trailer areas is also part of the routine.
This role demands a high level of responsibility and independence, requiring a valid CDL-A license, a clean motor vehicle report for the past three years, and successful completion of drug tests, background checks, and road tests. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and meet all state licensing and certification requirements. Drivers who join Core-Mark become valued team members, contributing to a company that not only prioritizes operational excellence but also invests in its people and their development.
