The Driver - Hourly position at Core-Mark plays a vital role in sustaining America’s food supply chain by delivering essential food and food service products safely and efficiently. This role emphasizes not only timeliness and safety but also the maintenance of positive relationships with customers, as drivers often represent the face of the company during deliveries. The position offers a four-day workweek with schedules designed to provide drivers long weekends, specifically from Tuesday to Friday, ensuring three consecutive days off each week from Saturday to Monday. Drivers are entrusted with the responsibility of safely operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes including intrastate, interstate, and local runs. They conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to ensure vehicle safety and reliability. The job also involves interacting courteously with customers and co-workers, maintaining accurate paperwork for freight, and performing duties like loading, unloading, securing freight, and completing daily logs of hours driven as per federal and state legal requirements. Depending on the route, drivers may handle cash or check collections and are expected to manage returns and damaged goods efficiently.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- At least 6 months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A license
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Meet state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- Maintain clean motor vehicle report for past three years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Possess or obtain valid DOT Health Card
- Ability to hand-lift products and use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates
- Physically capable of handling freight weighing between 10 and 90 pounds
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- 6+ months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
- Product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds depending on the location
Job Duties
- Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Report all safety issues and repairs required
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- Check and complete in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
- Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
- Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- Collect money (cash or checks) where required
- Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
- Ensure that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns and bring to driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork
- Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required
- At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork
- Perform other related duties as assigned
