Job Description

Core-Mark, a division of Performance Food Group and a Fortune 150 company, is a leading distributor in the convenience retail industry with a strong reputation for empowering customers, employees, and communities. With revenues exceeding $23 billion, Core-Mark operates extensive distribution centers across the United States and Canada, providing a wide range of fresh and broad-line food products and related solutions. The company's commitment to excellence, innovation, and service positions it as a trusted partner in the food distribution supply chain, delivering high-quality products efficiently and reliably to countless retail outlets.

The Transportation Driver role at Core-Mark is vital to maintaining the seamless flow of the food supply chain. This position involves operating tractor trailers on local, regional, intrastate, and interstate routes primarily focused on food and food service product delivery. The role emphasizes safety, punctuality, and professionalism, reflecting the company's dedication to service quality and customer satisfaction. Drivers not only ensure the timely delivery of goods but also represent the company directly to its customers, fostering strong, positive relationships.

In this role, employees benefit from a competitive compensation package that includes a first-year pay range of $69,000 to $75,000, which incorporates base pay, components, and overtime, all structured into a four-day workweek schedule from Tuesday to Friday. Notably, drivers enjoy three-day weekends every week, supporting a healthy work-life balance. Shift starting time is early at 4:30 a.m., encouraging an efficient delivery routine with all routes being local. Core-Mark also offers merit-based annual pay increases, enhancing earning potential. The company cultivates a safe and inclusive working environment, emphasizing recognition, respect, and opportunities for growth within a vital sector that supports America's food distribution system.

Core-Mark drivers perform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, ensuring vehicles and loads meet all safety standards. They manage accurate freight counts, check customer invoices, and complete all necessary paperwork meticulously. Responsibilities further include unlocking and securing trailers, loading and unloading merchandise, conducting damage assessments, and working closely with customers to confirm deliveries and process returns. Drivers also keep detailed daily records according to DOT hours of service requirements, maintain cleanliness and order in their work environment, and uphold all company policies for safety and efficiency.

This role demands physical endurance for hand-lifting and operating equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to maneuver freight ranging from 10 to 90 pounds. In addition to technical skill and regulatory compliance, excellent communication and customer service skills are essential, since drivers are the on-site face of the company. Core-Mark values drivers who work cohesively within teams and interact professionally with customers, coworkers, and vendors alike.

With a strong emphasis on safety, integrity, and teamwork, the Transportation Driver position offers meaningful employment with a reputable industry leader. Core-Mark supports its employees with comprehensive benefits starting on day one including health and wellness programs, stock purchase options, 401K matching, education assistance, and paid time off. For those seeking stability, competitive pay, and growth opportunities in a company committed to equal opportunity and diversity, Core-Mark provides a fulfilling career pathway delivering essential goods that keep communities thriving.
