The Driver - Hourly role at Core-Mark is essential to maintaining the efficiency and reliability of America's food supply chain. This position involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks to deliver food and food-service products safely and punctually to customers locally and regionally. The role demands adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, professional interaction with customers and colleagues, and the responsibility of ensuring the products arrive in optimal condition. Drivers are not only logistics experts but also ambassadors of Core-Mark, responsible for building enduring customer relationships through excellent service and professionalism.

This is a full-time position with a highly attractive compensation package. The first-year pay ranges between $69,000 and $75,000, inclusive of base hourly wage, component pay, and overtime, all organized around a favorable 4-day workweek schedule (Tuesday to Friday). This schedule offers three-day weekends, contributing to a healthy work-life balance, alongside a day shift starting at 4:00 AM. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure one
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and other equipment to move and stack product cases and freight ranging from 10-90 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure one
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and other equipment to move and stack product cases and freight ranging from 10-90 pounds

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
  • Report all safety issues and repairs required
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately report all safety hazards
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • Check and complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
  • Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks on items, scan and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • Collect money where required
  • Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log according to Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean
  • Secure all equipment and complete necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
