The Driver - Hourly position at Core-Mark is an essential role in the company’s mission to support America’s food distribution system. This position involves the safe and timely delivery of food and food service products to customers, ensuring that all shipments arrive in excellent condition and within scheduled times. The role is crucial to maintaining strong customer relationships as drivers are often the primary points of contact in the delivery process.

This job offers an attractive compensation package, with first-year pay ranging between $69,000 and $75,000, which includes base hourly pay, components, and overtime pay. The work schedule is designed to promote work-life balance, featuring a four-day work week from Tuesday to Friday with a consistent 4:00 a.m. start time and three-day weekends from Saturday to Monday, allowing drivers to be home daily.

The position is responsible for driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on local intrastate and interstate routes, as well as over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight driving. Responsibilities also include performing pre- and post-trip inspections to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, securing and handling freight, completing all necessary documentation accurately, and maintaining communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers in a professional manner.

Drivers must be prepared to unload products, perform damage control checks, collect payments when necessary, and maintain the cleanliness and security of the tractor and trailer. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum six months of commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Age 21 or older
  • Must meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean driving record for the past three years
  • Pass post offer drug test
  • Pass criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Possession or ability to secure valid DOT Health Card
  • Ability to lift and move freight up to approximately 90 pounds using appropriate equipment

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Six or more months of commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Obtain or currently have valid DOT Health Card
  • Ability to hand-lift and use two-wheeler, lift gate, and other equipment to move or stack product cases/freight of varying weights generally between 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds depending on location

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
  • Report all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • Check and complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
  • Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unload products from trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • Collect money (cash or checks) where required
  • Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
  • Ensure that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • Perform daily record of hours of service and log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean
  • Secure all equipment and complete necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
