This job opening is for a Driver, Hourly CDL-A position located in Amarillo, Texas, offering a competitive salary of $70,000 per year. This transportation role is fundamental to the food and food service delivery process, ensuring that products arrive punctually and in excellent condition. The position entails driving tractor trailers or straight trucks for intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight runs. The role requires strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations for safety and operational compliance. Drivers act as representatives of Core-Mark, fostering strong customer relationships through professionalism and reliability. The Driver will begin work early in the day, at 5:00 AM, typically Monday through Friday. Their responsibilities are wide-ranging and pivotal in supporting America’s food supply chain infrastructure. Responsibilities include conducting thorough vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure safety compliance, accurately completing delivery documentation, and performing product load checks. Drivers must efficiently manage loading docks and support the secure attachment of trailers as required. Deliveries must be made according to a predetermined schedule, with the unloading and transportation of products to designated customer storage facilities.

Additional duties involve performing damage control, scanning deliveries, obtaining customer signatures, and collecting payments when necessary. Drivers are also tasked with managing customer returns, securing vehicles and freight, unloading damaged goods, adhering to DOT hours of service and logging protocols, and maintaining general cleanliness and organization of the loading dock and vehicle. This role may also involve other tasks assigned to ensure the effective operation of the department and the company at large. Job Requirements

  • 1+ year of commercial driving experience
  • valid CDL-A and must be 21+ years of age
  • meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • pass road test
  • attains or has valid current DOT health card or able to secure new DOT health card
  • able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
  • able to work Monday through Friday starting at 5:00 AM

Job Qualifications

  • Valid CDL-A and must be 21+ years of age
  • meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • pass road test
  • attains or has valid current DOT health card or able to secure new DOT health card
  • able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift, product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to approximately 60-90 pounds depending on location

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
  • follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • immediately reports all safety hazards and inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
  • drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule and unloads products from the trailer transporting items into designated customer storage areas
  • performs damage control checks on items, scans, contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy, verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures, collects money where required
  • loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors, ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured
  • unloads damaged goods and customer returns and brings to driver check-in and completes necessary paperwork, unloads all equipment, materials and removes trash from trailers as required
  • completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean as required, secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
  • performs other related duties as assigned
