The Route Driver position at Core-Mark is an essential role focused on ensuring the safe and timely delivery of food and food-related products. This position requires operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on various routes, including intrastate, interstate, local deliveries, for over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, or drive and drop assignments. The role involves direct communication and professional interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers to ensure questions are answered promptly and accurately. Beyond driving duties, the Route Driver supports the company's operational efficiency by performing safety inspections, handling freight securely, and completing all required documentation precisely. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- One or more years of commercial driving experience with tractor-trailers
- Possession of a valid Class A commercial driver's license
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Possession of a current DOT Health Card or ability to obtain one
- Physical ability to manually lift and operate equipment including two-wheelers and lift gates
- Ability to lift and carry products weighing between 10 and 90 pounds
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- At least 1 year of tractor-trailer commercial driving experience
- Valid Class A commercial driver's license
- Age 21 or older
- Current or obtainable DOT Health Card
- Ability to hand-lift and use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates
- Capability to handle product weights ranging from 10 to 90 pounds depending on location
Job Duties
- Perform safety checks including pre and post-trip inspections of tractor, truck, and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Report all safety issues and repairs required promptly
- Follow DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices for accuracy
- Complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
- Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- Drive and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route and schedule
- Unload products from trailer and transport to designated customer storage areas
- Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and report issues to supervisor
- Verify delivery with customer and obtain signatures, collect payments when required
- Secure tractor, trailer, and freight appropriately
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- Complete daily log of hours of service according to federal, state, and company requirements
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area, secure equipment at shift end
