Job Description
Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, is a leading distributor specializing in fresh and broad-line solutions dedicated to the convenience retail industry. With a strong foothold in the market, Core-Mark is a part of the Fortune 150 company, Performance Food Group, and has built over $23 billion in revenue. The company's extensive network of distribution centers enables it to serve customers across the United States and Canada effectively, delivering a comprehensive range of products, programs, and services that meet the evolving needs of the food retail sector. Core-Mark's commitment to empowering customers, employees, and communities underpins its continued success and reputation as an industry leader.
The role of a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Core-Mark is integral to the nation’s food supply chain. This position is designed for individuals who take pride in representing the company as the face of Core-Mark to customers while ensuring products are delivered in a timely and professional manner. Operating primarily with tractor-trailers or straight trucks, delivery drivers execute local, intrastate, interstate, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes, maintaining adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Beyond simply transporting goods, drivers play a vital role in customer relations by building and sustaining long-term partnerships through excellent communication and service.
This position offers an attractive compensation package with wages up to $95,000 per year and a Tuesday through Saturday work schedule with flexible AM or PM shifts. Core-Mark emphasizes employee well-being by providing Day 1 Health & Wellness Benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. The company fosters a safe, inclusive, and rewarding workplace culture that values recognition and respect.
Delivery drivers at Core-Mark are responsible for performing essential pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections to verify vehicle and trailer compliance with safety standards. They ensure freight is properly loaded, secured, and delivered according to schedules while maintaining accurate records such as invoices and delivery paperwork. Drivers also manage product unloading, damage control, customer transactions including cash or check payments, and post-delivery equipment upkeep. The role demands physical capability to handle lifting and operation of equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move a variety of freight sizes typically ranging from 10 to 90 pounds.
Candidates suited for this role will possess a valid CDL-A license, a clean driving record, and a commitment to safety and professionalism. Preferred candidates may also bring foodservice distribution experience, proficiency with onboard computer systems and electronic logs like PeopleNet, and experience with hand-held point-of-delivery scanning devices. In alignment with Core-Mark’s dedication to diversity and inclusion, the company provides equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants regardless of background or characteristics protected by law.
