The delivery driver role at Core-Mark is a vital position within the company’s supply chain operations. These professionals are responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of food and food service products, representing the face of Core-Mark to its customers. This position involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks across both intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. Drivers must adhere to stringent Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies to maintain high standards of service and safety throughout their routes.

Core-Mark offers competitive compensation, with component pay up to $3,600 bi-weekly, in addition to monthly and annual bonuses. Employees work a four-day workweek starting early at 5:00 AM, providing a balanced approach to work-life management. The Driver, Hourly CDL-A at Core-Mark performs essential duties such as conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to meet safety regulations, ensuring all freight is secured and accurately accounted for, and maintaining thorough and legible documentation. Drivers communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and team members to foster professional relationships and deliver exceptional service. They are responsible for loading and unloading product orders, managing returns and damaged goods, and maintaining cleanliness in both the vehicle and loading dock areas. Completing daily logs and complying with all federal, state, and company requirements regarding hours of service and vehicle operations is crucial to this role.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least one year of commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Meet state licensing and certification requirements
  • Clean motor vehicle report past three years
  • Pass drug test and background check
  • Pass road test
  • Current DOT health card or ability to secure one
  • Ability to safely handle lifting of freight between 10 and 90 pounds
  • Capable of using equipment for moving and stacking freight

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One or more years of commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Age 21 or older
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements
  • Clean motor vehicle report for the past three years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have a valid current DOT health card or able to secure one
  • Ability to handle and lift product cases generally ranging from 10 to 35 pounds and up to approximately 60 to 90 pounds
  • Proficient use of two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment to move and stack freight

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Inspect tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks on items and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • Collect money where required
  • Load customer returns on to trailer and secure trailer doors
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log per Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean
  • Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at end of shift
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
