Job Description

Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, is a prominent player in the convenience retail industry, recognized as an industry leader offering fresh and broad-line solutions. As a part of a Fortune 150 company, Core-Mark has established a strong reputation for empowering its customers, employees, and communities. The company has achieved over $23 billion in revenue by continuously expanding its capabilities and services through its extensive distribution centers across the United States and Canada. These centers provide a full range of products, programs, and solutions that meet the diverse needs of its customers, maintaining a strong foothold in the food distribution sector.

Core-Mark specializes in food and food service delivery, serving as a critical link in the country’s food supply chain. The company emphasizes safety, customer service, and operational excellence, making it a reliable partner in the delivery and distribution of food-related products. With a culture built around rewards, recognition, respect, and inclusivity, Core-Mark fosters a safe and supportive work environment. Employees benefit from various growth opportunities and competitive compensation packages designed to help them build meaningful careers.

The open position is for a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver based in Sacramento, California. This role offers a salary of up to $95,000 in the first year, reflecting the importance and responsibility of the position. Delivery drivers at Core-Mark play a vital role not only in ensuring timely and safe product delivery but also in representing the company’s values and building lasting relationships with customers. The work schedule for this role is from Tuesday to Saturday, with options for AM and PM shifts and a home-daily assignment that diminishes the need for overnight stays away from home.

Delivery Drivers are responsible for operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, shuttle, and overnight deliveries. They must comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and perform essential safety inspections, load verification, and securement duties. This role requires drivers to engage professionally with customers, vendors, and team members, ensuring clear communication and problem-solving when needed.

The responsibilities include conducting pre-trip and post-trip safety checks, inspecting equipment, reporting any safety or repair issues, and ensuring freight is properly loaded, secured, and documented. Additionally, drivers manage delivery verifications, collect payments if required, unload and transport goods to customer storage areas, and perform general housekeeping duties related to their equipment and delivery vehicles. They are also expected to maintain accurate logs in line with federal and company requirements and assist with other duties as assigned.

Overall, this position is an excellent opportunity for experienced delivery drivers with a commitment to safety, customer service, and operational efficiency to join a well-established, growth-oriented company in the food distribution industry. Core-Mark's comprehensive benefits package and supportive environment make it an attractive place for professionals seeking career stability and advancement.
