Job Description

Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, is a prominent industry leader specializing in fresh and broad-line solutions for the convenience retail sector. As part of a Fortune 150 company, Core-Mark has established itself with a strong reputation for empowering its customers, employees, and communities. With over $23 billion in revenue, the company operates numerous distribution centers offering a comprehensive range of products, programs, and solutions across the United States and Canada. Core-Mark values its employees as the backbone of its success and embraces a culture that supports growth, diversity, and continuous improvement.

This union-represented role comes with a collective bargaining agreement and offers eligible employees access to health and welfare benefits through the Teamsters Managed Health Care Trust. These benefits typically include medical, prescription, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage. Additionally, employees may qualify for pension benefits via the Teamsters Pension Plan with employer contributions aligned with union agreements. For employees possessing other qualifying medical coverage, participation in an annuity plan instead of health coverage may be an option. Wages, benefits, and eligibility requirements for this position strictly adhere to the terms set by the collective bargaining agreement and associated Trust Fund rules.

The Driver, Hourly CDL-A position is essential within Core-Mark's food supply chain operation. Delivery drivers play a crucial role in ensuring that food and food service products are transported safely, efficiently, and on time to customers. Beyond just product delivery, drivers act as the face of Core-Mark, forming positive and lasting relationships with customers through reliable service and professional communication. This role demands adept skills in driving large commercial vehicles, managing delivery schedules, and handling logistical paperwork with accuracy.

This position operates primarily Monday through Friday with dispatch times between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM. Compensation starts at $29.00 per hour during training and transitions to a pay structure based on stops, loads, and miles traveled, details of which will be provided during the interview process. Responsibilities include driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. Drivers are expected to perform rigorous safety inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, maintain company vehicle safety standards, and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.

Attention to detail is vital as drivers must verify freight load accuracy, ensure secure loading of goods, and complete all required freight documentation legibly. They are responsible for timely deliveries following predetermined routes, unloading products carefully, and placing items in designated customer storage areas. Drivers also perform damage control checks, scan deliveries electronically, and handle payment collection when necessary. Furthermore, drivers assist in loading customer returns and securing trailers appropriately post-delivery.

Administrative aspects of the role include completing daily hours of service logs compliant with federal and state DOT mandates and performing general upkeep of the vehicles and loading dock area. The role requires teamwork within the department and organization, alongside performing other duties as assigned to best serve the company. Core-Mark fosters a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace where each team member's contribution is valued, supporting employees' professional growth and well-being.
